About

Welcome!  Thank you for visiting my website.
Finch Metal is an independent jewelry studio.  The jewelry you see here is designed and handcrafted by me in Washington DC.  I love the properties of metal and learning new things it can do when heated, folded, or hammered.  Many of my pieces are inspired by children’s playthings, but I also experiment with basic shapes for delicate, classic pieces.

Ten percent of all shop proceeds are donated to charity.  Each month, Finch Metal will rotate the charities receiving the proceeds.  I spend a lot of time researching charities to get to know their programs, and have a particular interest in poverty alleviation.  I select organizations that limit how much they spend on overhead, and instead, focus on getting resources and services to those in need.   I have a research background in community psychology, with an interest in how communities and social policies influence children and families.  I care very much about the health and well-being of communities, and try to maintain this awareness as Finch Metal grows.  For more details about the featured charities, please click on Giving Back

I strive to minimize the environmental impact and promote sustainability as much as possible.  My packaging comes from recyclable materials when feasible.  I am currently in the process of transitioning to a supplier of recycled/reclaimed silver that does not buy from mining companies.  Mining has a significant impact on the environment and often the people that work as miners.  My supplier provides socially and environmentally-responsible products, and provides silver that has been recycled from the existing metal supply.
